Profile
Since leaving Lincroft Academy, I have had many different experiences in understanding and exploring what options are available for future career prospects. Since attending university, my course has aided me in various ways, preparing me for the world of work! At school I had all my eggs in one basket in regards to my career, and that was business! Having had challenging life experiences since, I am now open to becoming a therapist or teacher, or both! I think having many careers in your lifetime is important, so why not use transferable skills and explore whilst you can.
I am currently in my second year of university, studying education and psychology BSc. After leaving sixth form with a different outcome to my predicted grades, I ended up in a different setting and place to what I had initially hoped. However, I believe things like this happen for a reason and looking back I am happy that I chose to study in Lincoln. It is a beautiful city, my course is amazing and couldn't be better suited to me, it has truly opened my eyes and I would tell anyone who is querying university as an option to definitely apply, even if you end up postponing after travelling etc! It's an amazing experience and I love to learn, so I knew that university is the place for me.
Advice to students
Do not worry, or stress or panic if you don't have any idea what you want to be. Most of the time it changes, and that isn't a bad thing. There's lots of pressure on young students to know what they want to do for life, and my advice would be try hard, and do your best in everything you do. Pay attention to the things you enjoy, even if it's a small part of one subject as there is a job for everything. Life is about learning and experiences not just a job. Everything works out, breathe, don't stress about the little things, and if you are stressed- there is always help available.
