Profile

On leaving Stratton after my A levels I decided to forgo university at the time and start working in an accounts role. I really enjoyed this role and was sad to leave when I relocated to the midlands. It sparked a love of finance in me and I knew that I wanted to work with accounts. On moving I started work as a credit controller I loved the challenge of collecting large amounts of money for a national surfacing company. I made it my mission to exceed my targets and put in 110% ensuring I did this. After the birth of my son I was unable to return part time so I decided to take a career break to care for him. My daughter then came along and my son started nursery sparking me to start studying through the open university for my degree. I knew that I needed to make the most of my time and that I wanted to start working again once both children were in school. Over 4 years I studied alongside caring for my children not only with the aim to further my knowledge but also show an example to my children. After finishing my degree I started part time as an accounts clerk after not working for 7 years this was very daunting but it gave me a purpose. I was in this role for 5 years working with both accounts payable and accounts receivable. Over time the role developed and I learnt more about the business and how it operated. This made me the ideal candidate for my current full time role when it became available. I have been in my current role for 5 months now and I feel it's one of the best decisions I've made. The role is even more varied than any previous role i have done but it incorporates my finance knowledge and helping me to develop lots of new skills.
