Profile

I studied at Sixth Form not really knowing what I wanted to do, so I took a gap year working whilst applying to University. I chose to study a Primary Education degree, but felt the age was wrong for me so I transferred to a Childhood Studies degree. I completed a Secondary PGCE specialising in Health and Social Care. Upon gaining my QTS, I decided not to teach so worked in a Children’s Centre for 3 months. I realised that I missed teaching and got a job back where I did my second teaching placement. I have been teaching there ever since for 15 years! Swavesey Village College gave me not only my education as a teenager, but my career as an adult!

Advice to students

It is ok to not know exactly what you want to do when you leave school. Just study things that interest you and you enjoy so that you can do well in them. Everybody has individual talents and interests and you will find your path. It may not always be a straight line, it may have twists and turns and hurdles, but you will find your vocation.
