Profile

After leaving Stamford Welland Academy, I started doing A-Levels at Stamford College. After about 4 months, personally, I felt like i was drowning underneath the workload that comes along with A-Levels, so i left college and went to work for the remainder of the year. Following this, i realised that what i was doing, regarding work, I didn’t want to be doing that for the rest of my life and i then started to look at different education pathways that i could start in September. I came across the idea of an apprenticeship within a school setting in sports. This is through Inspire+ and i started in September 2022 on the Level 2 Community Activator Coach Award, I passed the final observations and came out with a Distinction, which has now enabled me to continue my journey as an apprentice. I am now doing my Level 4 Sports Coach Award.

My level 2 apprenticeship was a year long course, now moving onto another 18 months for my level 4. It has enabled me to gain experience within a school environment whilst also learning about everything that is needed to become a school teacher/sports coach in future.

Advice to students

Keep pushing through all of the work you need to do in school, it really does pay off. If i could go back and repeat my year 10 and 11 i would because I know I could’ve done so much better. It’s not worth folllowing the crowd and thinking that messing around is the right thing to do, your education is so important and you can’t repeat going to school, make it worth it and strive to get the grades you need.
