Profile
After leaving school, I joined a recruitment agency and software company as a digital marketing apprentice, working towards my Level 3 apprenticeship in digital marketing.
I completed my apprenticeship in 2019, later receiving a promotion to partner marketing executive, supporting the company in engaging with new clients and marketing our services through email marketing, social media and events.
In 2020, I was made redundant due to Covid, where I spent the next few months finding temporary work, luckily still within the field of marketing which ensured I was still enhancing my marketing skills even though I was in temporary work.
In 2021, I moved to my current role in the employer brand team at a construction company called Kier Group. I joined as an employer brand coordinator and later promoted to employer brand specialist in 2022, taking on line manager responsibilities of a digital marketing apprentice too. As a team, we're responsible for promoting Kier as an employer of choice, showcasing what it is like to work here and the benefits available.
I completed a Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship starting 2017 - 2019. I dedicated each Friday to completing my coursework and visited my college once a month to learn the syllabus. The days spent in college could range from 1 day at a time to 4 days in a row.
Advice to students
Mistakes at work are inevitable, and the hardest thing you will have to do is admit you are wrong. But, the sooner you own up to a mistake the sooner it can be fixed and the easier it can be fixed! Don't let problems snowball past a solution.
